Disa Primary School - Our Story

OUR STORY

DISA PRIMARY SCHOOL IS AN ACT OF SOCIAL CHANGE

Disa Primary School values each individual for their unique gifts. In a world that primarily respects power and prestige this simple act of valuing a person for who they truly are is a revolutionary act.

When combined with a strong educational foundation, Disa Primary School supports people to believe in themselves and fearlessly work towards their dreams.

CHANGE
STARTS WITH US

The Disa Primary School founders are Andreas and Susan Struengmann. Andreas came to South Africa from his home in Germany as a medical intern. He and Susan worked together in Tsolo, in the Eastern Cape, where they were stunned by the lack of resources in both the hospital and the school where Susan was working.

They made a promise to themselves that if they were ever in a position to be able to, they would do their part to help more young people in South Africa to receive a quality education. They have made good on that promise with several initiatives, including, but not limited to, Disa Primary. And so the Disa Primary School history began.

REALISING
THE DREAM

Andreas and Susan Struengmann’s vision to bring the power of a solid early education to any child, regardless of their background, was realised in 2012.

Disa Primary, developed in partnership with the Western Cape Education Department, was opened in January 2012 to 260 Grade R to 2 learners. It has since grown to educate up to 700 Grade R to Grade 7 learners each year.
